「謝礼は交通費程度でよろしいでしょうか」ということだったので、お断りすることにした。
たしかに謝礼についての問い合わせのときに「お気持ちで」とは申し上げたが、交通費のみ支弁ということは「ノーギャラ」ということである。
ふつう、それが意味するのは、その人の仕事は「ギャラを払うほどのクオリティのものではない」という判断を先方がなされているということである。
そう判断するのは先方の自由であり、かつまたその判断に蓋然性が高いことにも私は同意するが、それと同じように、「おまえの仕事のクオリティは低い」と判定している人のところにわざわざ休日をつぶして出かけるほどの義理はないという私の側の判断にもご同意願いたいと思う。
